Downgrading Your Subscription

May 15, 2026

What Happens When You Downgrade Your Plan

Downgrading lets you move to a lower AlphaLedger subscription tier while keeping access to your current plan until the end of your paid billing period.

This article explains what changes after a downgrade and how it may affect your features, connected accounts, and billing.

When the downgrade takes effect

When you downgrade your plan, the change does not usually happen immediately.

In most cases:

  • You keep your current plan until the end of the active billing period
  • Your new lower-tier plan starts after the current billing period ends
  • Your features change automatically once the downgrade takes effect
  • You may be able to manage or cancel the scheduled downgrade before it happens

For example, if you downgrade halfway through a monthly billing cycle, you can continue using your current plan until that billing cycle ends.

What changes after downgrading

After the downgrade takes effect, your account will move to the limits and features of the new plan.

This may affect:

  • The number of trading accounts you can connect
  • Access to real-time updates
  • Advanced analytics
  • Shareable and verified track records
  • Community access and rankings
  • Factsheet customization
  • Portfolio simulation tools
  • Other features only included in higher plans

Any features not included in your new plan may no longer be available once the downgrade is complete.

Choosing which accounts to keep

If your current plan allows more connected trading accounts than your new plan, you may need to choose which accounts to keep active.

For example:

  • If you downgrade from a plan with 10 connected accounts to a plan with 3 connected accounts, you may need to select which 3 accounts remain connected.
  • If you downgrade to a plan with 1 connected account, you may need to choose the single account you want to keep.

Accounts above your new plan limit may become inactive, disconnected, or unavailable until you upgrade again or add extra account access.

Managing a scheduled downgrade

Before your current billing period ends, you may be able to manage your scheduled downgrade.

Depending on your account settings, you may be able to:

  • Cancel the downgrade
  • Change to a different plan
  • Review which accounts will remain active
  • Update your billing or payment details

If you cancel the downgrade before it takes effect, your current plan may continue as normal.

Payment information after downgrading

After your current billing period ends, your account will automatically move to the lower-tier plan you selected.

In some cases, you may need to re-enter or update your payment information for the new plan before billing can continue successfully.

This may happen if:

  • Your previous payment method cannot be used for the new plan
  • The checkout provider requires payment confirmation
  • Your billing details need to be updated
  • The new plan requires a fresh checkout setup

If payment information is required and not completed, access to paid features may be delayed, limited, or interrupted.

Will I receive a refund when I downgrade?

Downgrades typically take effect at the end of the current paid billing period.

Because you keep access to your current plan until the period ends, downgrading does not usually create an automatic refund for the remaining time in that billing period.
